TL;DR: Zero-click search means more shoppers are getting their answers, comparing products, and making up their minds right on the search results page, often without ever visiting your website. A single organic ranking isn’t enough to stay top of mind anymore. Our framework is built to get your brand onto the same results page up to five times: in AI Overviews, paid search ads, traditional organic listings, and the organic shopping block, plus the Map Pack if you have a physical storefront. The more times a shopper sees your brand, the more likely you are to make their shortlist and earn the click.

You Can Rank #1 and Still Lose the Sale
If you run an ecommerce brand, you’ve probably felt this one already…. Your rankings look fine, possibly even great. Maybe you’re even sitting in the top three for a few of your best keywords. But organic traffic is flat, or sliding, and nobody can give you a straight answer as to why.
Here’s the uncomfortable truth: If you haven’t already noticed, the search results page has changed right underneath you and the way you’ve been doing SEO for your ecommerce brand hasn’t changed.
Google now answers a lot of questions before anyone clicks through to a website. For most search queries these days, AI Overviews summarize the answer right at the top. Ads… then stack above the fold. Shopping blocks show product photos, prices, and reviews right there on the page. By the time a shopper scrolls down to that #1 organic listing you worked so hard for, they’ve already seen four or five other brands.
That’s why SEO is becoming more important than ever, not less. It’s also why it has become one of the most common things we do for baby, fashion, and home decor brands.
Why Baby, Fashion, and Home Decor?
On the surface, a baby gear brand, an apparel brand, and a home decor brand don’t look like they have much in common. But they all serve a very similar ideal customer.
These shoppers research before they buy. They care about quality and aesthetics. They compare several brands before committing, and they’re heavily influenced by what they see again and again and yet again. These are considered visual purchases where trust and familiarity carry a lot of weight.
Because the customer overlaps so much, the way they search overlaps too. That’s what allowed us to build a repeatable SEO/AEO/GEO framework, refine it across brands in all three verticals, and turn it into something that consistently delivers results.
The Zero-Click Reality
Unfortunately, we live in a world where zero-click marketing is becoming more and more prevalent. A growing share of searches end right on the results page, with the shopper getting their answer, comparing products, or forming an opinion without ever clicking through to a website.
For any ecommerce business, especially in the baby, fashion, and home decor space, that makes it vital to be visible as many times as possible on that page, so your brand becomes ingrained in your potential customer’s mind.
Think of the search engine results page as the new storefront window.
The click is still the goal, but the impression has to do a lot more of the work.
Our Framework: Owning As Much of the Page As Humanly Possible
Our SEO framework is built to generate as much brand awareness as possible on the search engine results page. Depending on the business, and on whether it has a physical storefront, we have the opportunity to put the brand front and center through four to five different strategies and placements on the same results page.
Here’s what each one is, and what it takes to win it.
1. AI Overviews (AEO Drives This)
What it is: This is the AI-generated summary Google shows at the very top of many results pages, along with the sources it pulled from.

Why it matters: Today, it’s the very first thing shoppers see, and it’s increasingly where research questions get answered. If your brand is cited or mentioned here, you’re part of the conversation before a single click happens. If not… well, then you’re not. Sorry.
What it takes to win it:
- Clear, well-structured content that directly answers the questions your shoppers are asking
- Strong SEO fundamentals, since Google pulls heavily from pages it already trusts
- Consistent brand messaging and mentions across reputable sites, not just your own
- Structured data that helps search engines understand your products and content
2. Paid Search Ads (Google Ads Drives This)
What it is: These are the sponsored text ads that sit at the top (and sometimes bottom) of the results page.
Why it matters: Ads guarantee placement on high-intent searches right now, without waiting for traditional organic rankings to build. They also keep competitors from owning the top of the page on your most valuable terms.
What it takes to win it:
- Tight keyword targeting focused on searches that actually drive revenue
- Ad copy that matches what the shopper is looking for
- Landing pages that deliver on the promise the ad makes
- Coverage on terms where your organic presence is weak, plus protection of your brand terms
3. Traditional Organic Listings (SEO Drives This)
What it is: These are the classic “blue link” results that most people still think of when they think of SEO.

Why it matters: This is the foundation of all things AEO & GEO. Strong organic rankings make nearly every other placement easier to win, including AI Overviews.
What it takes to win it:
- A technically healthy site that search engines can crawl and understand
- Category and product pages optimized for how shoppers actually search
- Helpful content that answers buying questions, not just keyword-stuffed copy
- Authority signals like links and mentions that show Google your brand is trustworthy
4. The Organic Shopping Block (Product Feed Optimization Drives This)
What it is: These are the free product listings (often labeled “Popular products”) that show product images, prices, and ratings directly on the results page.

Why it matters: For ecommerce, this is often the most visual and most clicked part of the page. Shoppers can compare your products side by side with competitors before they ever visit a site.
What it takes to win it:
- A clean, complete product feed in Google Merchant Center
- Accurate GTINs, titles, descriptions, prices, and availability
- High-quality product images
- Product reviews and clear shipping and return information
5. The Map Pack (Storefront Brands Only – Local SEO Drives This)
What it is: These are the local results with a map that appear when someone searches near a business location.

Why it matters: If your brand has a physical storefront and the shopper is in your geographic area, the Map Pack gives you one more prominent spot on the page, and it drives foot traffic as well as clicks.
What it takes to win it:
- A complete, active Google Business Profile
- Accurate name, address, and phone number everywhere your business is listed
- A steady flow of customer reviews
- Local inventory and product information where possible
Real-World Scenario: Two Brands, One Search
Picture a home decor brand doing around $6M a year online, with one showroom. A shopper in their city searches “boucle accent chair.”
Brand A is cited in the AI Overview, runs a search ad at the top of the page, ranks organically with its accent chairs category page, has two products in the shopping block, and shows up in the Map Pack with its showroom.
Brand B ranks #2 organically. That’s it.
Brand B has a great ranking. Brand A owns the page. Which one do you think the shopper remembers, and which one gets the click?
It’s pretty night and day, right?
Why Showing Up Multiple Times Works
Typically, once a potential customer sees you that many times, it doesn’t just pull you into their list. It makes you a strong consideration and gives you the best possible chance to generate the click to your website. This is the end goal these days.
There are a few reasons this works so well:
- Familiarity builds trust. Seeing the same brand in several places signals that it’s established and credible.
- Every spot you hold is one a competitor doesn’t. The results page has limited real estate. The more of it you own, the less room there is for everyone else.
- Different shoppers trust different placements. Some skip ads entirely. Some go straight to the shopping block. Some read the AI summary and stop there.
- Showing up across all of them means you meet shoppers wherever their eyes land.
Where to Start
You don’t need to win all five placements overnight. You need to start by understanding where you stand today:
- Pick your top 10–20 revenue-driving keywords, focusing on your key categories and hero products.
- Search each one (in an incognito window, and on mobile) and note which placements you currently own.
- Map the gaps. Maybe you rank organically but are missing from the shopping block, or you have no presence in AI Overviews.
- Fix the foundation first: technical SEO, category pages, and product feed health.
- Layer in paid search on high-value terms where you’re missing above-the-fold presence.
- Re-check monthly. The results page changes constantly, and so will your opportunities.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is zero-click search?
Zero-click search is when someone gets what they need directly on the search results page, through AI Overviews, featured snippets, shopping listings, or other features, without clicking through to a website.
Do I need paid ads if I already rank organically?
Not always. But on your most valuable terms, running ads alongside strong organic rankings usually captures more of the page and more total clicks than either one alone. Ads also protect your brand terms from competitors bidding on them.
How do I get my products into Google’s shopping results for free?
Set up Google Merchant Center, submit a clean product feed with accurate titles, GTINs, prices, availability, and images, and make sure free listings are enabled. The quality of your feed has a big impact on how often your products show up.
Can I control whether my brand shows up in AI Overviews?
Not directly. You can improve your odds with strong SEO fundamentals, content that clearly answers your shoppers’ real questions, structured data, and consistent brand mentions across reputable sites.
Does the Map Pack matter for online-only brands?
No. The Map Pack is only available to businesses with a physical location. Online-only brands can still compete for the other four placements.
